Ipe deck on a 1911 Craftsman
A narrow lot with no side access — every board came through the living room. The deck ties into original 1911 siding, so the ledger detail got opened, flashed, and counter-flashed rather than lagged through the shingles and hoped for. Ipe 1×6, pre-drilled and clipped, left to silver on the north exposure.

Craftsman bungalows, foursquares, mid-centuries — houses with character, on narrow lots, with mature trees and no side access. We permit through Portland BDS, work inside historic and conservation district review, build around protected root zones, and have carried more than one deck through a living room.

Newer homes delivered with a bare slab and a backyard that was never finished. We turn them into outdoor rooms — and we handle the HOA architectural committee and the Clackamas County permit as part of the job. You never talk to the committee; we do.
